Reception Admissions

You need to apply for September 2025:

• if your child's fifth birthday is between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026 for a place at first, infant or primary school

• if your child will be in year 2 at an infant school in September 2024 for a junior or primary school

• if you child will be in year 4 at a first school in September 2024 for a place at middle or primary school

Applying for a place at our school

All applications for Reception places are made through Staffordshire County Council who apply our admissions criteria to all applications and notify parents directly of allocated places.

Online applications are now the preferred method of making a preference for schools at the normal age of entry. Last year, around 92% of applications for Secondary and Primary School applications were made online. Parents who apply online are able to receive email notification of their school place on the national offer day, rather than through the post.

To apply for a reception place starting in the 2025/26 academic year applications are open between 1 November 2023 and 15 January 2024. National offer day is Wednesday 16th April 2025.

In Year Admissions

Any parent/carer who wishes to complete an in-year transfer to Norton Canes Primary Academy should contact the school in the first instance.

If you wish to make an application you should complete an application form and forward this to school. 

We will advise you of the outcome of your in-year application within 10 school days or at the very latest within 15 school days.

In the event that the place is refused, information about the independent appeals process will be detailed in the letter.
