Exciting New Housing Development in Norton Canes

Another new community housing development has opened today in Norton Canes.  Norton Pines is based within Norton Canes Primary Academy and is a fully equipped role play village situated in the 2 – 3 year old Ducklings provision.

This exciting new development includes a hospital, vets, bakery and both a fire and police station.

Children attending the setting are set to have enormous fun getting into character and acting out real life performances such as shopping, attending emergencies and looking after others.

A range of community heroes were in attendance at the village opening today including a Firefighter, Police Officer, Paramedic, Nurse, Armed Response Dog Handler and Royal Mail Officer.

Mrs Hadley – Head Teacher at Norton Canes Primary Academy - commented “role play is an important part of child development, as it builds a wide range of skills including creativity, communication, physical development and problem solving. Here at Norton Canes Primary Academy we are immensely proud of our new village and look forward to seeing our children develop the social, emotional and physical skills that role play brings as well as practical life skills such as dressing themselves, learning how to cooperate, and share with others”.

There are currently limited spaces available in Ducklings.  All 3 year olds and some 2 year olds are eligible for at least 15 hours funded early years provision per week.  To find out more contact our school office 01543 279402.

  • Let There Be Light

    Tue 12 Oct 2021

Over the last week, Year 6 have been helping Edward Teach VI (a stranded islander) navigate his way through tunnels and caves to escape the island. They have been investigating and completing experiments to understand how light travels. They have been creating electrical circuits and constructing their own torches, took part in a electrical circuit escape room and have been investigating light reflection and refraction, while receiving help letters from Edward Teach VI himself keeping us updated on his journey to escape.

  • Year 3//4 Football

    Mon 11 Oct 2021

Well done to our year 3 and 4 footballers!

The game ended in a nil nil draw, which did not reflect the excitement of the fixture. The boys and girls played in an end to end thriller with the rock solid Fiveways defender thwarting the Norton attack on several opportunities. There was great play and sportsmanship across the field, culminating in a heroic save from the Norton goal keeper preventing a late Fiveways surge. The referee blew for full time and there were smiles all round. Well done Norton and thank you to all who attended!

  • Year 5 Star Wars Launch

    Mon 11 Oct 2021

Year 5 received a message from Darth Vader today informing them that we had been recruited as new members of the Galactic Empire. Their mission is to become a new Sith apprentice and travel back in time to ensure the Resistance never succeed in defeating the Empire... changing the course of history in the process!

Over the next few weeks, children will learn all the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure that the mission is a success.

First, they had to take part in a series of challenges using their shooting talents to aim, run, shoot and support one another. In addition, they demonstrated great teamwork and battle instincts against the stormtrooper sent by the Empire to train them.

Following the day of training, Year 5 worked on their creativity and artwork designing pastel colouring to enhance mood.

  • Y5 and Y6 Football

    Thu 07 Oct 2021

A massive well done to the Y5/6 football team tonight.  They played matches against other schools for the first time and certainly did us and themselves proud.  Thank you Mr Greatholder and Mr Cooper for training and supporting them (and also to Miss Wright and Mrs Watkins for holding the fort with the after school netball club!). We look forward to many more successes! :-)
