Nursery Admissions

We are delighted you are considering starting your child's learning journey with us.  We are justifiably very proud of our early years provision, find out more below and have a look at our nursery class page.

Nursery Applications

Our Provision

At Norton Canes Primary Academy we have a dedicated nursery provision for children aged 3 and 4 years.   We understand for some children, nursery will be their first experience of being outside of the home during the school day, our nurturing environment enables children to grow and gain their very first steps towards independence.

Led by a fully qualified teacher, our provision is educational whilst being fun and exciting.  Children engage in mini missions, enabling them to learn through exploration and play.  Have a look at our nursery page to see some of the exciting mini missions we have already completed this year.

Facilities

Our ample grounds mean we have a dedicated early years building and outdoor play areas for Ducklings, Nursery and Reception children, giving them a gradual introduction to primary school.

Sessions

All three and four year olds in Staffordshire are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education per week, over no fewer than 38 weeks of the year. This applies until they reach compulsory school age (the term following their fifth birthday).  Norton Canes Primary Academy has one admission date per annum, which takes place in the autumn term starting in September.   We do require children to attend each day whilst they are in our nursery.  As our provision is lead by a qualified teacher we follow the curriculum and prepare children for starting reception the following September.  We are unable to offer ad-hoc days once children reach nursery age.

(If your child turns 3 during the Autumn or Spring Term your child will be eligible for our Ducklings provision, please contact us for further details).

Session Times:

Morning: Monday to Friday 8.45am - 11.45am

Lunch: 11.45am - 12.30pm

Afternoon: Monday to Friday 12.30pm - 3.30pm

30 Hours Free Childcare

Norton Canes Primary Academy will be offering 30 hours free childcare places to those that are eligible. This means in additional to the 15 hours Universal Free Childcare, you will receive an additional 15 hours, bringing your child’s funded hours per week to 30. The places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

To find out if you are eligible, the Government have provided an online eligibility checking tool for parents/carers:

If your child stays for lunch you will be required to purchase a school dinner or children are able to bring a packed lunch from home. All children eat together regardless of school dinner or packed lunch.  Lunchtime Superivison is not covered by the 30 hour code, however we aim to keep the cost as low as possible for parents.  The cost of lunchtime supervision is £2.50, for 45 minutes 11.45am - 12.30pm.
