Year 3 experienced what it was like to be a child who attended school in those day mastering the alphabet backwards, timetables, handwriting and the drill.  
They were shocked to hear how teachers treated children in the Victorian times and were very happy when Miss Boulton transformed back into her normal, happy self!
 

Year 3 were surprised that their classroom had turned into a mine this afternoon. They have been learning about what it was like for a child their age and younger working down the mines in the Victorian times. The classroom mine was very dark and the children had to drag their book boxes through as if they were transporting coal. From this experience, Year 3 told Miss Boulton that the children must have felt scared, anxious and claustrophobic.
