Believe, Achieve, Fly High

Social, Emotional and Mental Health

Norton Canes Primary Academy is proud to be a Thrive school, helping to support pupils with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health. We know that access to timely and accurate support from qualified staff is paramount to pupils journey as every child deserves to feel valued, involved and appreciated.

Our Thrive program helps staff to prepare pupils for life's emotional up and downs in partnership with parents, carers, families and other agencies. Our Thrive work is threaded through all that we do in school along with a bespoke weekly lesson for all classes to access; this supports pupils' resilience in any challenges they may face and helps them to gain many social and emotional skills to complement their academic skills and progress.

The Thrive approach provides guidance on how to be, and what to do, with children's differing behaviour. As a result, children become more self assured and ready to engage with life and learning.

Based on neuroscience and attachment research, Thrive provides a targeted intervention. All practice is underpinned by Thrive-Online, an assessment tool and extensive action planning resource that charts progress and measures outcomes.

The free parents toolkit loaded with Thrive resources and activities that can be used at home can be found using the following link:
